Matt Ridley: Britain will thrive as the world’s next Hong Kong in the wake of Brexit

Best selling science writer and futurist Matt Ridley was recently interviewed by Reason’s Nick Gillespie. Ridley discussed his latest book on innovation.

Ridley is also a member of the UK House of Commons where he is something of a libertarian. Ridley supported the 2017 Brexit movement.

Ridley suggests that Britain will soon become a global seat of commerce and capitalism, along the lines of Hong Kong in southeast Asia.

World’s elite government supporting universities announce “Alliance” to promote climate alarmism

Government supporting universities around the globe have announced the formation of an “International Universities Climate Alliance” to “ACCELERATE ACTION” (use of all-caps in original) “to meet the unprecedented global challenge of climate change.” Some forty schools, including Arizona State University, California Institute of Technology, Cornell University, King’s College London, McGill University, University of Melbourne and the University of the South Pacific have all joined the Alliance.

Lysander Spooner University remains the world’s only university dedicated to true skeptical scientific inquiry in the area of global climate science.

Scottish parliament prepares to suspend the right to trial by jury

The Coronavirus panic is threatening long-established constitutional rights around the globe. Ancient cornerstone protections of English common law–including rights to speedy and public jury trials–are being suspended in Scotland. Over a virus which appears to bring a death rate less than 1 percent.

U.S. government creates fake universities (and even makes one of them ‘fully accredited’), then arrests foreign students who are tricked into enrolling

Throughout the past two years, the U.S. government’s ICE agency set up its own fake university,

According to Reason Magazine:

The latest chapter in the story began in 2015, when ICE decided to crack down on visa mills. The agency created the University of Northern New Jersey, a fake college that held no classes and offered no instruction. If students paid recruiters between $3,000 and $12,000, they could “enroll” and show that they were taking the course load needed to satisfy the requirements of their F-1 student visas and, more importantly, to obtain Curricular Practical Training (CPT) status.

“The 2015 New Jersey sting resulted in over 1,000 students losing their visas and being thrown out of the country.”

Then ICE created ANOTHER fake university, the University of Farmington, in 2016. Its website claimed the University was approved under the Students and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). ICE even enlisted an accreditation agency to list the school on its website as fully accredited.

On the evening of January 29, 2019, ICE launched massive armed raids, making hundreds of arrests.

“ICE collected millions of dollars in fees from these students, Warikoo reported, and won’t say whether it has any intention of reimbursing them.”

“Climate Change” is “the defining issue of our time” for only a tiny sliver of elites

The issue ranks second to last among Americans’ concerns.

The crusade to empower governments to protect the planet from alleged imminent catastrophic manmade global warming is a movement only of wealthy elites, new polling confirms.

This is despite hundreds of millions—no, billions—of dollars of spending aimed at convincing Americans to trust elites on this issue. There are even several universities which have created college courses and entire institutes on the topic of “climate change communication.” (Not the science of climate change; the science of how to persuade others to believe in the alleged science of climate change.)

A consortium of newspapers and reporters have signed on to global journalism initiative committed to promoting climate information in hysterical terms. Numerous reporters have turned whistleblower and exposed how mainstream journalism deliberately presents false facts in an orchestrated effort to scare readers into taking political action regarding the elusive threat of climate change.

But new polling by the Pew Research foundation has found that climate change ranks second to last among America’s concerns. “Between 2008 and 2013, it ranked last.” The issue rose to second to last each year from 2014 to 2019 except 2018 (when the issue rose to third to last).

Twitter, under government pressure, permanently bans Zero Hedge for asking if Chinese government created the coronavirus

Zero Hedge is one of the most popular independent financial and economic sites on Twitter. It has almost 700,000 Twitter followers.

But days ago, Zero Hedge published a news story entitled, “Is This The Man Behind The Global Coronavirus Pandemic?” The story was about Chinese government laboratories which are known to be developing biological weapons. The Zero Hedge report asked whether the Coronavirus–which has killed some 300 Chinese–may have been created in government labs.

The Chinese government has been demanding that all social media platforms remove any content which offers such suggestions. Facebook gave in to the Chinese government demands two days ago.

Now Twitter has PERMANENTLY BANNED Zero Hedge from publishing ANY content on Twitter.

“Last week, Twitter had said “those who engage in coordinated attempts to spread disinformation at scale about coronavirus issue will be removed from service.””

Government academics censor climate facts and block those who state them

Modern academics live in government bubbles where reality has become a dark alternate universe.

In 2008, a group of pro-government extremist professors founded “The Conversation,” a “scholarly” blog aimed at closing the supposed gap between government academia and popular journalism.

The notion was that the findings and writings of such brilliant pro-government researchers don’t get enough airplay in popular culture.

Now “The Conversation” is not only BANNING all discussions which question the government’s apocalyptic-manmade-global-warming-by-CO2 theory. The blog now blocks and permanently locks out those who cast doubt on doomsday climate claims.

Pro-government extremist professors at The Conversation Australia are “implementing a zero-tolerance approach to moderating climate change deniers, and sceptics. Not only will we be removing their comments, we’ll be locking their accounts.” Discourse on the topic “simply stalls action.”

“The Conversation” urges readers to “please don’t engage [climate discussions], simply report it.”

Chinese government enlists Facebook to censor news about coronavirus

The Chinese government is losing control of the narrative regarding the coronavirus. Nearly 12,000 people have been infected by the virus in China, and tourism to China has dropped considerably. Numerous stores and offices in China have closed and some airports have implemented quarantines of travelers.

Now the Chinese government (and, it seems, other governments) have pressured Facebook to censor the spread of non-government-approved information about the virus.

Of particular concern to the Chinese government are reports that the virus originated in Chinese government labs or biological warfare experiments.

Information in China is tightly controlled, and Chinese laws dictate that rumor-mongers can face years in prison. In the early days of the outbreak, Chinese state media reported that police in Wuhan had detained eight people for spreading rumors about a “local outbreak of unidentifiable pneumonia.”

Mexico suffers its first economic contraction in a decade after voting for socialist president

Like most countries, Mexico has a vibrant, hard-working population but is cursed by a massive, intrusive, and expansive government.

Now, two years after Mexicans voted for a socialist president, the Mexican people are suffering their first economic contraction in ten years. See here.

The Guardian now bans ads by fossil fuel companies

Less than a year after its editors imposed a rule on its reporters to write hysterically about the climate, the Guardian has announced a ban on advertising by fossil fuel companies.

The pro-government extremist publication masquerading as a newspaper issued a “style guide” to all of its “journalists” last year, requiring that they use the phrase “climate crisis” or “climate emergency” rather than “climate change.” The Guardian‘s reporters are also required to describe those who ask questions about government climate claims as “deniers” rather than “skeptics.”

Now the government-supporting “newspaper” is banning all ads by fossil fuel companies. See here.
