In the world of climate-change alarmists, funding non-government-approved science is “keeping the public in the dark”

imagesVJSAO5MO

The government-worshipping Salon.com site is back with another essay on the politics of global climate change. According to Salon, Exxon may have spent as much as 16 million dollars during a 7-year period from 1998 to 2005 on “organizations [which] muddy the scientific waters.”

Two points: (1) $16 million is NOTHING. Exxon has spent vastly greater amounts on government-sponsored and approved climate “research” and messaging; and (2) $16 million is an UTTERLY TINY sum compared to the vastness of government funding (which is in the high hundreds of BILLIONS) of the climate-change-by-CO2-is real hysteria.

Salon repeats assertions that fossil-fuel businesses should be investigated by the government for investigating climate-change claims, and suggests that funding for climate change research of a skeptical nature is somehow illegal.

Several questions arise from this chain of reasoning:

* Are energy companies not allowed to debate in a scientific area where their commercial interests are involved?
* Are business not legally permitted to challenge a government’s scientific assertions?
* Are business not even allowed to look into governmental science claims?
* Isn’t the scientific process about inquiry, doubt, testing and skepticism? Since when do scientists want LESS research into a scientific question?
* Doesn’t any governmental ‘investigation’ into private science funding set a bad precedent by chilling inquiry? Or might that be the purpose of the New York State Attorney General’s Office?

Medicaid patients are 13 percent more likely to die than those without insurance

anguish 2

A 2011 University of Virginia study found that surgical Medicaid patients are 13 percent more likely to die than those without insurance. Of the 893,658 surgical operations reviewed between 2003-2007:

Patients on Medicare were 45% more likely to die than those with private insurance; the uninsured were 74% more likely; and Medicaid patients 93% more likely. That is to say, despite the fact that we will soon spend more than $500 billion a year on Medicaid, Medicaid beneficiaries, on average, fared worse than those with no insurance at all.

The Claim That Exxon Is Funding Climate Skepticism Evaporates Under Scrutiny

Here are two great sources of info on the now-popular claim that the fossil fuel industry massively funds skepticism of the government’s climate-change agenda.

The entirety of the claim rests on hyperbole. In fact, Exxon and the other major oil companies have funded MUCH MORE pro-government propaganda on the issue than skepticism.

Update on N.O.A.A.’s Concealment of Temp Data

cl

We previously reported that NOAA (the government agency charged with monitoring and studying the climate and atmosphere) is refusing to provide the temp data calculations it used for its published study claiming there has been no pause in global warming.

The June report said the rate of global warming in the last 15 years has been “as fast or faster than that seen during the latter half of the 20th century.” This contradicted earlier findings.

Satellite and weather balloon temp records show NO WARMING WHATSOEVER for almost two decades. Yet the most powerful agents of government (including the U.S. president and most of the presidents of the world’s most powerful governments) continue pushing for more power to fight ‘global warming.’

NOAA’s purported study claimed that the 18-year ‘pause’ in global warming doesn’t exist! That temps have actually continued warming, and thus that the known satellite data is incorrect.

Congressman Lamar Smith has subpoenaed the temp data used by NOAA to produce its study. See here. According to Smith:

“The American people have every right to be suspicious when NOAA alters data to get the politically correct results they want and then refuses to reveal how those decisions were made,” Smith said in a statement. “NOAA needs to come clean about why they altered the data to get the results they needed to advance this administration’s extreme climate change agenda.”

Another College “Disinvites” A Speaker for Presenting Governmentally-Incorrect Views

cultured-stone-column
America’s colleges overwhelmingly promote–often with government funds taken by force from taxpayers–an extremist, pro-government, socialist and elitist doctrine.

Now Williams College, a once-prestigious liberal arts college in Massachusetts–has banned a speaker from an event after inviting her to speak. See here.

It is the greatest irony that Williams College had begun to recognize that its faculty, curricula and administration have increasingly trumpeted a one-sided, extreme pro-government ideology; the “disinvited” speaker (Suzanne Venker) had been invited as part of the College’s “Uncomfortable Learning” lecture series, purportedly aimed at offering students a small bit of diversity.

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education has an entire website listing many dozens of “disinvited” speakers who have been banned from government-controlled campuses over the years. See here. Although the site depicts such instances of campus censorship as arising from differing sources (i.e., “left” or “right”) close scrutiny shows that most of the disinvited speakers offered a position, experience or argument that dissented from the general ‘cult of the omnipotent state’ ideology governing American universities.

(Note that a handful of disinvited speakers on the list were well-known government tyrants or torturers, and their disinvitations stemmed from students objecting on “human rights” grounds.)

European Union Votes to Give Edward Snowden Asylum

jefferson

There was a time–decades ago–when the United States were considered the freest soil on earth.

Now the international community increasingly recognizes that the U.S. government is among the world’s most totalitarian states–especially with regard to the U.S. government’s vast surveillance and takeover of cyberspace, cell, and internet technology.

This past week, the European Union voted (by an unfortunately close vote) to grant whistleblower Edward Snowden asylum status anywhere in Europe.

The EU considers Snowden’s alleged whistleblowing acts as humanitarian activities. See here.

Many U.S. government officials want Snowden tried, imprisoned or executed for treason or “espionage” for exposing the government’s unconstitutional surveillance of its citizens.

Government Solar Power Plant Actually Emits MORE CO2 Than a Fossil-Fuel Plant (Per Unit of Energy Produced)

anguish

The Ivanpah Solar Power Plant in the desert of Southern California cost U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars.

Yet “it is producing carbon emissions at nearly twice the amount that subjects fossil-fuel power plants to California’s “cap-and-trade” program. See here.

The plant uses large amounts of natural gas to substitute for times of low solar output.

3,500 birds were “fried” by the solar plant in its first year.

And the plant produces nowhere near the level of electricity of a regular power plant.

Good News! Antarctican Ice Not Melting!

climate change magazines

Perhaps they didn’t get the memo.

NASA released an exhaustive study yesterday (Nov. 30, 2015). See here.

NASA’s study admits that “Antarctica is not currently contributing to sea level rise, but is taking 0.23 millimeters per year away.”

Antarctic ice is now at the very largest levels ever recorded by satellite. See here.

A new climate record: America goes 10 years without any serious hurricanes

images7NVB3H9J

American weather has apparently gotten slightly milder even as it cools. October 24, 2015 “marked a full ten years since a category 3-5 hurricane last hit the United States. (Hurricane Wilma in 2005; Sandy hit as a Category 2,)” according to climate writer Paul Driessen. See here.

That’s a record dating back at least to 1900. It’s also the first time since 1914 that no hurricanes formed anywhere in the Western Atlantic, Caribbean Sea or Gulf of Mexico through September 22 of any calendar year.

Government Admits that “Affordable Care Act” is Causing HIGHER PRICES

industri

“Underperforming bailout-style programs (expiring after next year) designed to artificially hold down rates, sicker-than-expected risk pools, and stagnating enrollment projections.”

These are, according to columnist Guy Benson, the ways that promoters of Obamacare underestimated costs and unintended consequences of the “Affordable Care Act.” Premiums are rising an average of at least 7 percent annually (despite $5,000 deductibles), and consumers in some states are facing increases of 20 percent or more.
