Roger Roots offers another $5,000 bet: Mexico’s glaciers will NOT all disappear by the end of 2030.

Dr. Roger Roots, J.D., Ph.D., founder of Lysander Spooner University, has confronted a new climate catastrophe prediction.

A recent (April 11, 2025) Mexico News Daily article states that “Mexico’s 12 surviving glaciers — nine on Pico de Orizaba and three on Iztaccíhuatl — are on the brink of disappearing within five years, according to research from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).” UNAM volcanologist Hugo Delgado Granados argues that Mexico’s 11 glaciers are “already beyond saving.”

Dr. Roots visited Mexico’s glaciers in January 2019 and summited Pico de Orizaba–Mexico’s highest mountain and the 3rd highest mountain in North America. There were acres of snow-covered glaciers on Mexico’s 1st and 3rd highest mountains at that time.

Dr. Roots is now offering to bet $5,000 that Mexico will still have glaciers in five years–thus on April 11, 2030.

This bet offer is open to any taker.

This is Roger’s 5th offered bet over climate and environmental conditions. See here.
