After decades of propaganda and trillions of dollars spent by governments to promote the view that Arctic snow and ice are melting, satellite images reveal that Arctic ice has been growing for eleven years.
As of January 3, 2019, ice in the Arctic is approaching the median for 1981-2010. See here.
Socialists like Bernie Sanders and Hugo Chavez often live lives of deception. But no one compared to Fidel Castro.
Castro claimed he made just 900 pesos ($43) a month and lived in a “fisherman’s hut” but he actually lived in secret palaces and had many secret wives, mistresses and children. He had his own private island, private pools and his own pet dolphins. Dozens of servants serviced his every whim.
By Dr. Roger Roots, J.D., Ph.D., Lysander Spooner University East Glacier, Montana. September 9, 2018. Volunteer glacier researchers from Lysander Spooner University once again traveled to Glacier National Park (GNP) on September 8 and 9. This is the fourth straight year in which a delegation from the University investigated the government’s claims that the glaciers in GNP are melting away due to apocalyptic manmade global warming by carbon dioxide.
Agencies of the U.S. government publish various pamphlets, signs and websites which show pictures of GNP’s glaciers taken many years ago juxtaposed against more recent pictures of the glaciers appearing much diminished. The signs, films, flyers and pamphlets published by the National Park Service and U.S. Geological Survey all predict that GNP’s glaciers will melt away by either 2020 or 2030. (There is still a large diorama at the St. Mary Visitor Center which boldly suggests that manmade climate change will cause the Park’s glaciers to disappear by 2020—just a year and a half from now.)
A major flaw in the government’s ‘before’ and ‘after’ approach is the omission of precise calendar dates. Every Montanan knows that mountain glaciers grow for 9 months of the year and then melt for 3 months. Thus a picture of a glacier taken in June or July will always show the glacier much larger than will a photo taken in early September. Comparing one year (“circa 1952”) to another year (“2005’) can be highly manipulative. Only a year-by-year, date-by-date comparison of photos taken at the end of the melt season (generally around the second week of September) will establish whether a glacier is growing or shrinking.
This year (2018) it quickly became clear that the glaciers have grown substantially in recent years. A startling example is seen at the Jackson Glacier overlook on the Going-to-the-Sun Road. The government has erected a sign with two photos: (1) the Glacier in 1911; and (2) the Glacier in 2009. The display shows the Jackson Glacier melting away to perhaps 10 or 20 percent of its 1911 size. But visitors to the marker in 2018 are able to look up above in the distance and see that the Jackson Glacier has grown significantly since 2009. The Glacier’s growth may be as much as 30 or more percent since 2009.
Elsewhere in the Park there are indications that the government is quietly seeking to conceal some of its hysterical claims of the past. Last year (2017) our video of the trash cans at the Many Glacier Lodge went viral. The large metal trash cans behind the Lodge depicted the Grinnell Glacier shrinking away over the past century. One trash can bore an image of the Grinnell Glacier in 1909 while the can next to it showed the Grinnell Glacier in 2009—diminished to perhaps 20 percent of the size of the 1909 Glacier depicted on the first trash can. In September 2017 we were able to show thousands of Americans a video of the two trash cans next to a digital photograph of the Grinnell Glacier taken the day before. And it seemed clear that the Grinnell Glacier has grown slightly since 2009.
This year when our team arrived at the location of the trash cans, we found that the two cans have been removed! It appears that the National Park Service is trying to hide the fact that the glaciers are growing!
Lysander Spooner University is the only research institution challenging the government’s Glacier Park climate hysteria. Literally, no one else—not the local newspapers, not the think tanks, not the government-supported universities or even the Boy Scouts—are doing this vital work.
Please support Lysander Spooner University if your are able to do so.
Just 25 years ago, Venezuela was the richest and healthiest society in all of Latin America. Then the people of Venezuela voted for socialism.
Now they struggle for daily survival.
Former doctors, lawyers, and even children now walk the streets as prostitutes. Men die in knife fights over dollar bills while standing in food lines. Local zoos have been invaded and had their exotic zoo animals eaten for food. Prisoners in Venezuelan prisons sometimes kill, cook, and eat fellow inmates.
Now the people of Venezuela are digging up old graves of Venezuelans who lived during more prosperous times, seeking jewelry. See here.
The Associated Press (AP) has partnered with Chinese government “news” agencies in order to operate within China.
Now a committee of the U.S. Congress is investigating. “We need to be certain that this MOU [memorandum of understanding between AP and Chinese “news”] is not an IOU,” [Congressman Brad] Sherman [D.-Ca.] told [Josh Rogin of the Washington Post]. “Xinhua uses its bureaus in the U.S. to collect intelligence for Beijing, so it’s common sense that a cooperation agreement with it and the AP should be scrutinized. We need full transparency.”
Of course every investigation into “mainstream news” sources has always found that many reporters are secretly paid by U.S. government officials and agencies.
MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) — The director of a TV station critical of President Daniel Ortega was accused Saturday of inciting terrorism after authorities raided and shut down the station’s office.
Nongovernmental media are increasingly threatened under the socialist regime.
The news director “appeared in court in the morning wearing a blue prisoner’s uniform and was formally accused of ‘provocation, proposition and conspiracy to commit terrorist acts,’ according to a court document.”
At least 325 people have been killed in recent protests, and the Nicaragua Center for Human Rights says some 565 people have been jailed. Thousands more have fled the country in self-imposed exile.
Those who love the environment should care when overfishing causes depletion in fish stocks (and fish-hunting birds).
But the government-owned British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) recently published a report claiming that a decline in South African penguins was due to rising oceans caused by manmade climate change.
Alert skeptics immediately smelled something fishy when they heard the initial report. They knew that oceans and “tides” have not been rising (to any abnormal extent) from climate change.
The BBC was shamed into admitting its error. See here.
It has
been one year since the Trump Administration’s FCC overturned the Obama
Administration’s FCC program known as “net neutrality.”
The concept of “net neutrality” was based on the tired, worn-out idea that government must control and regulate all industries. In all essence, ‘net neutrality’ was a government takeover of the internet. The Orwellian idea was that a massive new government bureaucracy was needed to make the internet “free”by regulating and licensing internet providers and speeds. Government trusters claimed it was needed to stop evil corporations from charging the poor more than the rich, or something.
When Trump’s FCC outvoted Obama’s FCC and gutted the two-year-old regulatory system, many voices predicted disaster. The front page of CNN.com called the FCC’s vote “The end of the internet as we know it.” But CNN.com is still there. The New York Times’ website declared that repealing net neutrality would be the “final pillow in [the internet’s] face.”
Like almost every other government claim ever, these predictions were bunk. “Internet speeds have increased by 40 percent during 2018, according to a recent report by Recode.”
TO BE FAIR, 2018 has seen some efforts by large internet-using companies to censor their own content. For example, pro-Democratic Party sites such as Facebook, Google, and YouTube began “shadow banning” some ‘conservative’content prior to the 2018 election, and outright banned some anti-government content such as Alex Jones’ Infowars (the most popular channel on Youtube at one time). But those decisions will almost certainly harm Facebook, Google and YouTube in the months to come.
Bloomberg has analyzed 20017 Census data and found that the top 3 highest-taxing cities–New York City, Las Angeles and Chicago–EACH lose over 100 people each day who migrate to other states. High-tax Chicago loses nearly 156 people each day.
These economic refugees are fleeing to lower-tax, lower-regulation states such as Texas, Arizona, Florida and Nevada. Dallas, Texas leads all U.S. cities as the largest net gainer with 246 people arriving daily.
After Dallas, Sun Belt beacons Phoenix, Tampa, Atlanta and Orlando round out the top five. Seattle, at number six with a gain of 116 people daily, is the only cold-weather destination in the top 10.
