Doug Buchanan was a long-time liberty activist who was also a climbing legend in the Alaska ranges and elsewhere. He pioneered routes and first ascents on many Alaska peaks long before climbing in Alaska became widely popular.
Shortly before his recent untimely death, Doug provided commentaries to accompany a few of his classic Alaska mountaineering films (which he originally filmed in Super 8).
